Katanas, or the samurai sword, is a beautiful but deadly oriental weapon that capture the attention and imagination of many people around the world. Seeing a Katana in an epic film or documentary is often what intially compels a person to collect oriental swords; it stands to reason that acquiring a samurai sword is a priority for many collectors.
After two years in the making, Darksword Armory has finally teamed up with japanese sword maker, Akio Hattori, the youngest member of the Hattori knife making family, now living and forging his samurai swords in China. The Katanas, forged by Hattori and his staff, are individually handmade. The Katana blades are forged with 1095 High Carbon Steel and can either be ordered Tempered, at a Rockwell of 55, or in traditional fashion, Clay Tempered (on order basis for the time being).
Each of Hattori’s Katanas, are individually hand forged and sharpened by hand, while the fittings and extras are ordered from a third party. We offer two of the Hattori lines; The Standard line, made by Hattori’s staff (presented below), and an Elite line of katanas, forged by Akio himself.
The battle ready katanas in our Standard line as offered here on our website are made with a balance in mind, between practicality and aesthetics. We requested that they be made in such a way that they would be highly functional at home, in the dojo for practical use, during cutting tests and performances, or as a highly attractive wall decoration. The blades on the Hattori katanas are razor sharp and ready to cut out of the box.
Darksword Armoury has been offering quality medieval and fantasy swords for years. We are proud to now offer samurai swords that are comparable to the best in the market. With each run we get closer to our goal, and are confident that someday our katanas will be standard in collections all over the world.
All Katanas are sold with a solid wood display box, silk sword bag, single sword stand, and a sword polishing kit (shown below). Hattori Katana blades are signed by Akio Hattori. The display box are burned with his logo as well.
