I bought this sword as a Christmas present at the end of 2017, so far I’ve had the opportunity to spar with it a couple of times a month in heavy reenactment combat both in training and at public events (Abbey Medieval Festival 2018) and have gotten to know it fairly well. The balance is good for a sword that weighs in at just under 1.2kg, and the edge has no suffered no major damage despite my innate ability to edge block a good 70% of the time. The hilt fittings have dulled nicely with time and it gives the piece a nice look.
The only criticisms I have with the sword come from the weight and the tip, I believe the weight could be reduced by making the fuller wider and slightly longer up the blade whilst still maintaining blade presence, I understand that this weapon was marketed with HEMA and HMB in mind so there should be some heft to it and blade presence however historical examples usually come in around the 1kg mark and other branded reenactment/hema/HMB swords also manage to come into this weight range. The tip however required filing back to about a 20mm-30mm cross section to make it safe for use in combat, as it was way to sharp, to DSA’s credit their tempering process the loss of material hasn’t affected the performance of the steel.
Overall, I’m happy with my purchase from DSA and hope to make another purchase from here in the next year or so, but hope that the smiths at DSA could include a rounded tip option for future swords marketed towards this community.

This is a great sword for training in viking combat.
While it is kinda on the small side for the blade, it more than makes up for it with comfort for those who are just starting out on their path to becoming a warrior.
I would totally recommend this blade for your training, Pro or Novice.
